​MACULAR DEGENERATION

​MACULAR DEGENERATION has become an eye disease of epidemic proportion.  It is a very serious blinding eye disease that can start very slowly.  Early intervention is now common practice to prevent, or at least slow down,​ this disabling disease.  If a parent or relative has been diagnosed with macular degeneration, it is very important to tell your Optometrist about your family history.  At Salem Eye Clinic, we often prescribe preventative neutraceuticals (Lutein,mesazeaxanthin and zeaxanthin) and proper sun glass protection to decrease the environmental factors that can cause vision loss due to macular degeneration.  Feel welcome to contact Dr. Jordan Brown at jordan@salemeyeclinic.com for further information on any of these eye care topics.
